12) MILESTONE PROJECT

Organize all the assignments I've done in a semester.

1. Objectified Response

This is the assignment after watching a documentary called Objectified. I thought that the concept of design, which I studied and studied about the concept of design from the documentary, was in line with Kenneth Grange's sewing machine, so I turned the sewing machine into a 3D object. It was made through Tinkercad and worked hard to express the curved part of the sewing machine. It looks simple, but I spent a lot of time on the sewing machine because there were many details such as many buttons.



2. Mesh Mashup

The mesh mashup assignment was one of the assignments that made me think a lot about the assignmet of combining something different with different concepts. Inspired by me, who was stuck in a smartphone, I made a chain with my smartphone to create a 3D object that held people back. It took a long time because it was difficult to adapt to a more advanced 3D program than Tinkercad. In particular, the process of applying color and texture to objects was more complicated than Windows computers, so it was difficult.



3. Papercraft Object

At first, when I was sketching, I was inspired by things I could easily find around me and sketched things like pencil case, stapler, pencil holder, and tube paint. But when I made the pencil holder myself, it felt like it was too simple and there was no depth to the object (I also miscalculated the size of the object). I remembered stalactites from the documentary and worked on it again. I reinterpreted the stalactites more abstractly. When printing and cutting planar figure, there were many small and thin parts, so it was difficult to work on them.



4. Hybrid 3D Model

Six hollow forms were made using the Rhino tool that I had learned so far. I wanted to make as many various forms as possible, so I made them based on many forms such as rectangular and cylindrical. I had a hard time making it because of an error in the program, but I was proud to see the newly created object combined with Ericka's form.

I had never learned 3D before taking the class, so I was really worried that I would not be able to follow the class well. However, when I learned 3D, it was not as difficult as I thought, and I also enjoyed my weekly assignments. I learned a lot during the semester. I want to say thank you to my classmates who took classes with Bryan who taught us hard.

09) PAPER CRAFT OBJECTS:FINAL REVISION

This week is the week when the Paper Craft Object project ends.  I made a more advanced version of the paper stalactites based on the prototype I made the week before last. The prototype version of the paper stalactite doesn't seem like in a cave, so I designed the final version of the paper stalactite by changing the organic lines into a deeper, pointed curve.  And I made two drops of water to make it seem like water is falling from the stalactite. - the process of making paper stalactites - Completed paper stalactites - Paper stalactites according to various lights - Prototype vs final Unlike the version made in rhino, it is regrettable that the paper stalactites have become a little longer overall. I think it would be much better if I revised that part. It was a good idea to choose pastel-toned paper centered on purple to give a mysterious feeling. 01) OBJECTIFIED:RESPONSE - Sewing machine

OBJECTIFIED: RESPONSE - Sewing machine    Watching interviews with many designers on  the OBJECTIFIED , I felt that good design eventually comes from in-depth observations of 'people'.    In the film, great designs are everyday things (OBJECTIFIED 10:13) and get better with use. When I heard this, I remembered an object I had read in a book before: the sewing machine of Kenneth Grange.   Before Kenneth Grange's sewing machine, most sewing machines had all corners angled and the needle's position was always centred. However, this past form of sewing machines had a lack of material to place on the sewing machine, as the angular edges of the sewing machine pressed painfully against the body part that touched the sewing machine, and the needle's position was centred.   Uncomfortable with these sewing machines, Kenneth Grange rounded out the corners that touched the body and moved the needle outwards.       This sewing machine of Kenneth Gran...

10,11) 3D PRINTED HALLOW FORM OBJECT:THE HYBRID

This week's assignment was to create a new hybrid object of object by combining the object I made and the object of my partner. - My first 6 objects When I heard the topic of this assignment, I thought about creating objects using many Rhino tools that I have learned in class.  So it was good to review many Rhino tools such as rotate, loft, join, cut, etc. other than taper and twist that I learned most recently. - the object that I choose creating hybrid object. This object seemed to be able to stand alone without the help of others, and it also seemed easier to print when this object was actually 3d printing than other objects I created. I chose the object because I thought it was aesthetically good because the edges of the object were not round and sharp. - Ericka's first 6 objects - Ericka's  I thought the objects in both of us looked great, especially Erica's tentacle objects were great ideas.
